Family Masses
1st Sunday of the Month
The first Sunday of each month St Mary's comes together for an informal, family focussed mass. This is an excellent service to attend if you have children, or are new to the faith. The service starts at the slightly later time of 11am, and lasts just under 1 hour. The sermon is usually interactive and is aimed at the children. After mass, our fellowship continues with lunch in the hall. Please feel free to come along to the this service, we really would love to see you there.

The children were an enthusiastic and lively bunch, coming each day all smiles, fully committed and ready to be a part of all that was on offer. They were co-operative and helpful, kind and considerate, and largely very well behaved and appreciative, with one helper commenting that as a group they were “a sheer delight to look after!” Positive words indeed! Under the leadership of Fr Adam each day was engaging and fun. Fr Adam’s energy and enthusiasm were infectious, and he was in his element especially when it came to the large-scale painting of the backdrop and when rehearsing and performing the play! Clearly much thought, planning and preparation, and resource-gathering and time had been put into the whole week, and all of this was on top of his usual Parish work. Very impressive!! |
These photos show a selection of what the children got up to over the course of the week. Each child fully immersed themselves in the activities of the day, from the creation of props and backdrops, to learning the songs (and the all-important actions), with individual craft projects to complete and then them all coming together as a cohesive group to successfully present the dramatic presentation of the musical play ‘Noah’s Ark’ to their family and friends. What stars they were with their enthusiastic and delightful singing, some really cute participation and plenty of talent on display! And all of this being achieved in the space of five days … quite simply, amazing!
Being blessed with mostly dry and sunny weather was a bonus. This enabled the children to get some fresh air and let off steam each day at breaktimes, by eating and playing outside. Football, not surprisingly, was the most popular activity for the boys, and the girls enjoyed skipping, and together as friends creating with chalk some super designs and murals on the tarmac!
